Street voices

Canada 🇨🇦 “When I was younger I got into trouble a lot. I was kicked out of school. I got arrested. So those things led to me being thrown out of the house. ‪While I was in the Toronto shelter system I founded the Street Voices movement to empower marginalised voices. ‬I started this for the next Joel, so they don’t have to go through what I went through. ‬People always need exposure and with @streetvoicesto we always go straight to the underground. For most people, this is the first time they get published in a magazine.

There’s a quote, ‘People don’t have ideas, ideas have people.’ This was an idea that just had me.

There’s an underground population of creative, young, ambitious individuals, and all they are missing is the platform, all they’re missing is the opportunity. There’s a quote, 'People don’t have ideas, ideas have people.' This was an idea that just had me. I’m definitely a survivor, because people in my circumstances end up in jail, on drugs, sometimes dead. Knowing when to listen to myself and not listen to the crowd, helped me to survive. There’s a lot of negative influences out there in the streets. ‬If I didn’t have a bigger vision, I’d be just as lost as a lot of people."‬
