Uganda 🇺🇬 “I am a refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). I came to Uganda with my grandmother who carried me on her back since I was young. I couldn't walk for that long distance to Uganda. Currently I live in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, in one of the slums. My grandmother can't afford to rent a reasonable house in Kampala.

At the moment schools are closed because of COVID-19. So I'm home to help my grandmother with some work since she is old now. I am an orphan. I learnt to make toys for children in the slums using clay from the swamp. I make toys which they buy for 3 Ugandan shillings (less than 1USD), which can help my grandmother buy a bar of soap for washing her clothing.

I love to make toys since it makes me forget my problems and children like me as well. Now I am used to life in Uganda. I don't want to go back to DRC because of the unstoppable wars, which took my parents. I am here in Uganda, even if my grandmother can't afford anything. When I grow up I will support my grandmother with every support.”
